Guru Padmasambhava: The Lotus-Born
In the 8th century, a remarkable figure emerged who would forever change the spiritual landscape of the Himalayas. Guru Padmasambhava, known as Guru Rinpoche (“Precious Master”) or the “Lotus-Born,” was invited to Bhutan by King Sindhu Raja to subdue malevolent forces and establish Buddhism in the region.
Born miraculously from a lotus flower in the land of Oddiyana, Guru Rinpoche possessed extraordinary spiritual powers. His journey through Bhutan was marked by miraculous deeds taming demons, blessing sacred sites, and leaving his spiritual imprint on caves, rocks, and mountains throughout the land.
The trail you will walk follows his legendary path, connecting the places where he meditated, taught, and performed miracles. Each step is an opportunity to connect with his timeless wisdom and the living tradition of Vajrayana Buddhism that he established.
