Everything You Need to Prepare for Your Journey
Best Time to Visit
Choose the perfect season for your pilgrimage
Spring (March - May)
A time of vibrant renewal, this is the perfect season to journey from the subtropical lowlands of Gelephu to the high, alpine valleys of Bumthang. The days are pleasantly warm for trekking, and the skies are typically clear, offering breathtaking views of the pristine Himalayan peaks.
Temperature: 15-25°C (59-77°F)
Conditions: Clear, dry weather. Evenings in higher elevations like Bumthang can be cool.
Autumn (September - November)
This is the premier season for the Lotus-Born Trail. The monsoon rains have cleared, leaving behind pristine, crystal-clear skies that frame breathtaking mountain vistas. With comfortable temperatures perfect for trekking and a vibrant cultural calendar, autumn offers an unparalleled experience.
Temperature: 10-20°C (50-68°F)
Conditions: Dry, stable weather with excellent visibility and crisp air.
Note: Summer (June-August) brings rains, making trails challenging. Winter (December-Feburary) can be very cold at higher elevations, though spiritually profound with fewer pilgrims.

This pilgrimage is as much an inner journey as an outer one. Preparing your mind and spirit is equally important.
* Establish a daily meditation practice
* Read about Guru Rinpoche and Bhutanese Buddhism
* Reflect on your intentions for the pilgrimage
* Practice mindful walking in your daily life
* Cultivate an attitude of openness and humility
