🇧🇹 Bhutan
Bhutan is a small Himalayan kingdom known for its deep-rooted Buddhist heritage and spiritual way of life. Despite its modest size and population, Bhutan stands as a symbol of wisdom and balance where the teachings of Vajrayana Buddhism guide not only personal faith but also national development.
The country’s monasteries, sacred sites, and pilgrim trails embody its living spirituality, with faith woven seamlessly into the rhythm of daily life. Bhutan’s sacred landscape continues to inspire pilgrims and seekers from around the world, who journey here to experience the profound peace and authenticity that define the kingdom’s spiritual heart.
In recent years, Bhutan has also garnered international admiration as the world’s only carbon negative country, demonstrating that environmental conservation and spiritual values can coexist in perfect harmony. The Gelephu Mindfulness City, a visionary national project, reflects this same ethos — uniting spirituality, sustainability, and innovation to reimagine development in a sacred and mindful way.
Dochula Pass
Dochula Pass, at 3,100 meters, links Thimphu with Punakha and offers breathtaking views of the eastern Himalayas, including Gangkhar Puensum.
It is famous for 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens, built in 2004 by Queen Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuk to honor Bhutanese soldiers who died in 2003.
The pass also features the Druk Wangyal Lhakhang temple and hosts the annual Dochula Druk Wangyel Festival, a vibrant celebration of Bhutanese heritage, history, and spirituality.
